El Paso, TX – The El Paso County Elections Department would like to remind eligible registered voters of their option to submit an Application for a Ballot by Mail also known as an ABBM starting January 1, 2024. A voter is eligible to vote early by mail if they mark one of the following reasons on the application:
Our office does not send applications or a mail-in ballot automatically. Eligible voters can download an ABBM in either English or Spanish from our website or they can call our office to have an application mailed to them. On the application, the voter must provide their identification number, last four of their Social Security Number or their Texas Identification Number issued by the Department of Public Safety. The provided number must match the voter’s identification number that is currently on file with their voter registration. If in doubt, complete both fields.
An ABBM may be submitted at any time in the calendar year. Voters who are 65 years of age or older or are disabled qualify to apply for an “annual” application. Choosing the “annual” option ensures the voter will receive a mail ballot for the 2024 elections that take place in the political jurisdictions where they reside. If the voter chooses not to mark the “annual” option, they may choose to vote by mail in specific elections. Also, as this is an even-numbered year, an applicant must mark the party of their choice to participate in a Primary Election.
Any ABBM received this year will expire on December 31, 2024 or when the voter cancels the application, their voter registration is canceled, or when the voter registers in a new Texas County.
Voters can call our office at (915) 546-2154 for more information.
