Early Voting for the May 2026 Primary Runoff Election
Wednesday, May 13, 2026

El Paso, TX – The El Paso County Elections Department would like to remind voters that Early Voting for the May 2026 Primary Runoff Election begins Monday, May 18th and continues through Friday, May 22nd. Voters can choose a time that best fits their schedule and often avoid long lines that are more common on Election Day.

In Texas, when you vote in a primary election, you affiliate with either the Democratic or Republican Party. If no candidate receives more than 50% of the votes, the top two move on to the primary runoff election. The runoff decides the party’s final candidate for the November 2026 General Election.

Who Can Vote:
If you voted in the March 2026 Primary Election:
- You can only vote in the primary runoff for the same party.
- You cannot switch parties between the primary and primary runoff.

If you did NOT vote in the March 2026 Primary Election:
- You can choose to vote in either the Democratic or Republican runoff.

There are a total of 38 Early Voting Locations for the convenience of voters and hours of operation vary by site. Voters can locate voting sites by using the “Finding My Nearest Early Voting Location” tool or by entering their zip code on the Early Voting Location page of our website.

Our office encourages voters to be prepared by using My Voter Dashboard to easily check their voter registration status, eligibility and voting history. Voters can also view their sample ballot by registered precinct and review and print a personalized interactive sample ballot (audio-enabled and accessible for voters with disabilities). To access the dashboard, voters will be asked to enter their first name, last name and date of birth, or their Voter Unique Identifier (VUID Number), found on their Voter Registration Certificate.

Voters may cast a regular ballot by providing one of the seven forms of acceptable photo identification or by completing a Reasonable Impediment Declaration at the voting site and providing one of the supporting documents. For a list of acceptable photo identifications or supporting documents, voters can visit the Identification Required for Voting page of our website.

If a voter requested a ballot by mail and later decides to vote in person, they must surrender their own mailed ballot at the voting site. If the ballot is not surrendered, the voter will be issued a provisional ballot.

For questions, voters can call our office at (915) 273-3597 or at epelections@epcounty.com.
